I broke two plastic thru hulls off on our "new" old boat within one month of ownership. With another 3 to go, I decided to get in front of the problem and order stainless. The angle of these with respect to the bend wasn't difficult to slide into even a smaller hole on a 1/2" thick fiberglass hull. With the hole drilled out to accommodate these threads (the plastic unit was smaller), it was trivially easy to slide into position.I used butyl tape to seal, and would like others to know that the outer flanges on these are exceptionally wide and can accept sealant well with a small recess within the flange itself. The threads were cut cleanly with no burrs or other defects on the three I have installed so far. I'll be installing another two afterwards, and don't expect any unexpected results. Most stainless threads need to be treated with PTFE lubricant so as not to gall, but I didn't use anything on these and didn't feel the need to. They're straight threads, which should be obvious by looking at the photos. Overall, I'm very impressed. The price could be better, but that's OK.
