We have a hose reel that sits against the house inside a 6 foot flower/mulch area that has a slightly raised border to corral said mulch. Of course, several of the plants and flowers grow and spread out causing issues when unrolling and rolling up the 100' hose when watering the rest of the house in front. Since you are pulling the hose out into the yard you cannot guide the hose or keep it from rubbing or tearing the leaves/flowers. Those ground stakes that are hose guides are way too low because the reel keeps about 3 feet of the hose up in the air because remember: we're pulling the hose out into the yard. Plus the border is rubbed once it gets far enough from the reel to touch the ground. Enter these high up guides that are more open on top to allow the hose to pull up and out a little each hose pull yet fall back down into the cradle and keep the hose off the plants and border. It took some experimentation to get the distance correct, but required only one for each hose front and back.Now, as to the product itself - very sturdy, heavy metal and there are two stakes to give it extra stability and it shows. Rock solid when the hose is being pull and especially stable when rolling up which is where this really shines. Inside the guide I roll the entire hose up to the border without it drooping or catching anything on the way. This was probably designed to allow a hose to be suspended in a line, but we find it extremely useful and valuable for our purpose. They are exactly as pictured, there were not surprises other than they were heavier than I thought they'd be which is a good thing. I rated the value for money as 4 stars, they seem a little expensive at $10 a piece, however no regrets in my purchase at all. For what they do for us they ended up being worth it as we couldn't find anything else as high or that looked to be extra sturdy and stable that we needed.
