We have always had hoses piled up near outdoor faucets and every time we use the hose it is a struggle to put it back and make it look neat. This reel is is great! It spools out the hose as you need it and then automatically reels it back in. Mounting it on the wall was a little challenging because it is heavy and somewhat large. I did not feel comfortable mounting it in the framing of the house, so I mounted it on the concrete foundation, which meant I had to buy concrete anchors and rent an impact drill. However, the reel comes with a template for mounting, and once I had the tools and the parts it only took 15 minutes. Pricey, but worth it.Works well. It does seem a bit delicate. Hose coils nicely but does not always bring in the last foot or two. One user managed to reel in a kink and that did damage the hose. Doesn’t leak but the sheathing cracked. If you use it with care it’s still far easier to use than coiling a darn hose every time!This is a solid product. I looked through a ton of different hoses before choosing this one. I’ve never used one that is connected fully like this but it’s amazing. It reminds me of my husbands air hose in the garage - easy to pull out and auto locks at whatever point you pull to and then pull again and it automatically pulls the hose in. Definitely a good buy and worth it!So this retractable hose reel is awesome and so easy to use. It is so much better and easier to use then the manual crank hose reel I’ve been using. I actually bought the hose 2 years ago and I am just writing this review now because of how great the customer service department is. After having the hose for over 2 years and past the warranty period, it sprung a leak. I called customer service and they instantly sent me out a new reel. Not many companies will honor returns once the warranty ends. So I highly recommend buying this reel or anything from the giraffe tools company…can’t beat their customer service and their products are great too!!!Absolutely love this product. I am never going back to regular hoses. Forget wind up messes and tangles and knots, this hose self-retracts with just a small tug. Walking it back to the compartment like a little dog on a leash is so satisfying every time. When it comes time to store it in winter, all you need to do is loosen one screw and pop out the whole thing.When I received the product through Amazon, the hose nozzle arrived broken but Giraffe customer service was immediate in sending a replacement that worked perfectly. I would definitely recommend this product all around.This is a great solution to organize a garden hose (and keep it that way, without a lot of effort). It also protects the hose material from the elements.The most important point is to mount it on something strong enough to withstand the swiveling weight of that length of hose, full of water (it won't be empty when it's retracted into the shell).That usually means brickwork or concrete, not siding or the kind of wooden plank often used to mount an outside water spigot.The 4 masonry lag bolts are big and you need to accurately pilot the holes (using a small masonry bit) and finish with a bit large enough to accommodate the plastic plugs. And you will need a hammer-drill (AC power corded, not a weak battery-driven drill).It took me 3 hours to site and get these holes drilled (because I didn't have exactly the right thick masonry drill-bits).I don't know why the vendor includes the paper template for marking the hole positions, because the plastic bracket really serves the same purpose.Overall, works great, just wish it were easier to install.I shopped around for a bit, looking for the right retractable hose reel. Gardenia seemed too expensive, so I settled on this Giraffe product. (I read a lot of the reviews - I always think you have to take the 1⭐️ with a grain of salt. Grumpy people will be grumpy about ANYTHING!) So far (it's only been a few days), it's been great! Pretty easy to install (make sure you follow instructions and make sure its SECURE to the wall/post/whatever-you're-hanging-it-on. Hose works great, retraction mechanism no problem.
